Aegisound Moves to Expanded Facility

Christiansburg, VA – May 1, 2013 – Aegisound relocated its manufacturing operations from Blacksburg, VA to Christiansburg, VA.  The planned move was prompted by Aegisound’s growing need for increased production capacity and additional space to accommodate its ever increasing growing customer demand.  Aegisound moved from a facility that was less than 5,000 square feet to a facility that was much greater than 15,000 square feet, including office, manufacturing, and warehouse space.  Aegisound’s new facility will more effectively and efficiently serve its DoD, military prime, and industrial customers.

U.S. Navy Awards Aegisound New Product Delivery Orders

Blacksburg, VA – September 20, 2012 – Aegisound received a new product delivery order, from the U.S. Navy, in support of its $25.3 Million sole-source Basic Ordering Agreement. This continues the delivery of Aegisound’s new line of advanced extreme noise hearing protection, communication and safety products. These products were designed primarily for U.S. DoD aircraft maintainers, but are also being sold to industrial and non-U.S defense customers.

This order includes 22,000 units of Aegisound’s patented DC2 circumaural hearing protector.  The DC2 provides Navy personnel with more than 10 times the safe exposure time, versus legacy ear muffs.  The order also includes several hundred Argonaut™ double hearing protection (DHP) communication headsets, as well as funds for associated data item deliverables.  The ArgonautTM DHP communication headset incorporates a patented digital noise canceling microphone technology that dramatically improves the ability to communicate in extreme noise environments such as those encountered on U.S. Navy flight decks and flight lines.

Aegisound Successfully Completes Critical Topic SBIR Contract with U.S. Air Force

Blacksburg, VA – March 31, 2012 – Aegisound recently completed the “Affordable High-Performance Hearing Protection and Communication System” SBIR contract, awarded by the US Air Force in 2009.  The program was focused on improving the performance, cost, and manufacturability of Aegisound’s most advanced digital active noise reduction (DANR) hearing protection and communication products. Upon completion of the program, Aegisound is poised to work with Lockheed Martin (manufacturer of the Joint Strike Fighter) to transition a significantly less expensive version of its DANR DHP (digital active noise reduction double hearing protector) and DANR DHPC (with communications) into production.

Aegisound is currently under contract and is shipping its baseline design DANR DHP and DANR DHPC products (triple hearing protection headsets with communication) to Lockheed Martin. The products are being procured to protect maintainers of the Joint Strike Fighter from harmful noise exposure.  The recent and successful completion of this Critical Topic SBIR contract makes it possible for LM to pursue transition to the less expensive version of the DANR DHP systems developed during this program.
